Services to Children in their Own
Homes
J.J.C.'s "Services to Children in their own
Homes" program works with families referred to J.J.C. by
the Philadelphia Department of Human Services. The major objective
is to preserve and strengthen the family's capability to utilize
resources appropriately, so as to avoid the placement of children
into foster homes or group homes. SCOH social workers form a contract
with families, which means that the families agree to accept frequent
SCOH counseling and agree to follow-through on the use of a wide
range of community resources. The children are frequently monitored
to ensure their health, welfare and school attendance.
J.J.C.'s SCOH program is one of the largest provider of in-home
supportive services in the City of Philadelphia.
